Environmental Agency non-action affects disabled and senior citizen anglers
This video is about the impact on Swindon ISIS club, disabled anglers ,and our senior citizen anglers due to the in-action of the environment agency .
Avon Mill Radial Gate at Sutton Benger has been in a state of dis-repair for some time now.
The Environment Agency are saying that they cannot afford to repair it despite making over 22 million alone just from us anglers.
Swindon ISIS club own a half-mile stretch of the land which has now become un-fishable due to the drop in water levels as a result of the Environment Agency saying that the Avon Mill Radial Gate would cost too much to repair. This in turn has made at least 15 of our swims un-fishable. This means that our senior citizen and disabled anglers can no longer drive to or access the swims. This has also impacted on our ISIS club membership by about 30% which is not good.
As we pay our licence fees as anglers - we would like to see the benefits of what this used for by the Environment Agency and we would like to see some positive action in relation to them repairing the Avon Mill Radial Gate so that our more senior and disabled anglers can access the swims again.
Fishing is an all inclusive sport and many of our elderly members look forward to participating as it gives them a sense of purpose, helps them to stay connected to their angler friends and it is good for their general health and wellbeing.
